Sorry all for my absence. I have been horribly busy and have some news for my dear readers out there. The Okie Foodie is going to be an Okie Mommie!!!!
So…let the cravings begin. I’m ready to eat for two!
Dear Loaded Baked Potato:
Butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, chives, and ranch dressing (Yes…I said ranch dressing)… All mixed together harmoniously inside of a potato baked to perfection. Could I be dreaming? Is this really a reality? How could you be so filling, yet oh so delicious? How could you, a simple, starchy vegetable that has sustained society for hundreds of years, be mixed with a potpurri of toppings and change my life like you do? You make eating a steak THAT much better. You are mixed with a salad and provide the perfect addition of carbohydrates to my diet. Don’t let those Atkins diet crazies get you down. The Okie Foodie appreciates the rich carbohydrates you provide. You are an unfailing side dish, that can sometimes even be turned into an entree. You are the ultimate comfort food. Thank you for being you. Don’t change a thing and keep on sustaining human life as you have done for hundreds of years.
After years and years of eating adventures in Oklahoma and across our great nation, I have finally decided to jump in the world of food blogging. This is partly from inspiration of my dear friend Kitchen Geeking who plans our Young Democrats of America trips around the food we will eat at each different city we visit. I have eaten some great places especially during the two years that I lived in DC. I really expanded my food palette and began appreciating food from many different cultures. My dear husband and I made our return to the great state of Oklahoma in December and I began to notice that Oklahoma has a wealth of great food. We began eating and eating away (my waist band did not appreciate this) and I noticed that I was analyzing this food much differently than when I lived in Oklahoma before. I figured, “what the heck…I need to write about this AMAZING food.”
So that is my story. I hope you all enjoy this blog and I’m hoping it becomes a place people will come to for good advice on where to grab some delicious eats. I’m from Marlow, OK, a small town in southwest Oklahoma. We have quite a few foodie places in this part of the state, but I’m always looking for a new find, so please suggest when you hear of a new place I should try. I will also try to write about my foodie experiences during all of my travels (I tend to travel quite a bit!)
