About the Okie Foodie

Howdy!  My name is Cassi Peters.  I’m 26-years-old and I live in Norman, OK with my dear husband Joe Bob and our precious little baby Josi and chihuahua Penelope.  I hail from Marlow, OK and Joe from Pryor, OK.  I work in politics in Oklahoma and Joe is an Air Force pilot in the West Virginia Air National Guard (yes he has a VERY LONG commute).  We both love food, be it cooked on our stove or out at a great restaurant, we love it.  We really began trying different foods during our two years living in Washington, DC.  We both expanded our palettes with eating different foods that you just cannot find here in the great state.  We moved back to Oklahoma in December of 2009 and immediately were surprised with the amazing food that we have in Oklahoma.  I guess when we lived here before, we were poor college kids and did not really indulge in the great food here!

Enjoy our travels around this great state (and this country) as we explore the greatness that is FOOD.  Please send your suggestions to cassi@okiefoodie.com.  We are always looking for a great place to grab a bite to eat and we are not afraid to drive a couple of hours to find it!

Have you tired Eischens Bar in N.W Ok., west of Kingfisher-in Okarche?
It’s fried chicken, fried chicken , and more fried chicken. The ONLY other sides are white bread , pickles, and fried okra, maybe fries, all served on paper tablecloths-no plates.
People do drive MILES to frequent the place, and sometimes wait for a table-but it’s worth the wait-adults can sit at the bar if preferred.
It’s an old, bar style-family-style-chicken fry stop-.worth checkin out. Outside attractions are a casino, on the road n. of El Reno, or a day at Roman Nose Park, further west.

Have you been to Rococo? It is an East Coast style restaurant with amazing steaks, chops, seafood, and some Italian specialties.
It is located at 2824 n. Penn near OCU campus.
You should not leave there without trying their crabcakes, they are amazing!
The owner, Bruce Rinehart won Best Chef last year in Gazette’s Best of OKC 2009.
