I love chicken fried steak. It is one of my favorite foods. In my post about Cheevers, I told the story of when we lived in DC, a good chicken fry was hard to find. We had to go to IHOP to find one that was remotely good.
When I began this Okie Foodie journey, a good friend of mine suggested that Joe Bob and I try Kendall’s Restaurant in Noble. I love personal recommendations, but I’m always nervous I will be completely disappointed and don’t want to rag on a beloved restaurant. But I guarantee you, Kendall’s did not disappoint.
Kendall’s has been in Noble for a very long time (I can’t find the exact numbers and none of the employees that were there at 2:30 (it was a late lunch…don’t hate) seemed to know.) But I do know its been there for a long time and has stood the test of time. I think that is an important quality in a restaurant. I love the chic new ones, but my favorites are the places that have been there for 40 some odd years.
The food at Kendall’s was great. I of course got the chicken fry. Joe Bob got the burger and fries. His words, “One of the best burgers I’ve had since Meers.” We eat a lot of burgers…so this is a great compliment. Everything we ate, including the green beans, had great flavor. This is almost like food your grandmother would cook for you. This is country diner food at its finest.
Another perk of Kendall’s… free cake at the end. Anything with the words free and cake in it…make me a happy girl! Try it out! It did not disappoint!
